CECIL L. WELCH
1933 - 2014


Cecil L. Welch was born on March 1, 1933, in Enid, Oklahoma, and departed this life at his home with his family by his side on Tuesday, November 11, 2014, in Meeker, Oklahoma, at the age of 81.
Cecil, the son of Lloyde C. and Mayme L. Taylor Welch, was a resident of Meeker.
He graduated from Midwest City High School with the Class of 1953.
He proudly served his country in the United States Navy.
He married Donna Flowers on September 25, 1964, in Meeker, Oklahoma.
He retired from Tinker Air Force Base in January 1988 as a supervisor in the tool and die department.
He was a former Mayor of Meeker.
Cecil was a member of Meeker First Baptist Church.
He was a 32nd Degree Mason of the McAlester Scottish Rite and a past Worshipful Master of the Meeker Masonic Lodge.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing, going to garage sales, buying and trading guns and knives and woodworking. He loved spending time with his nieces and nephews.
His parents, father-in-law, mother-in-law and two brothers, Jimmy Welch and Bud Welch, preceded Cecil in death.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Donna Welch of the home; nieces, Cindy Todt and her husband, Tom of Yukon; Donetta Montgomery and her husband, Jim of Fort Gibson; Barbara Jones of Shawnee; Yolanda of southern Oklahoma and Lashawna Sears and her husband, Mike, of Shawnee; nephews, James Welch of Meeker and Buddy Welch and his wife, Angie, of Morrison; brother-in-law, Joe Flowers and his wife, Louise, of Meeker; sister-in-law, June Welch of Fort Gibson; a host of great nieces and nephews and friends.
The Welch family will receive friends on Thursday, November 13, 2014, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Parks Brothers Funeral Chapel in Meeker. They would like to extend a special thank you to Liz Green of Loving Care Hospice for the care she provided to Cecil and his family.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 14, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Meeker with Pastor Joe Jones officiating.
Interment will follow at New Hope Cemetery in Meeker.
Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Prague.
