ERVEN WALLACE WATKINS
1918 - 2007
Erven Wallace Watkins, longtime Lincoln county and Agra resident, passed away at his home on Wednesday, November 14, 2007, at the age of 89 years.The son of the late William C. and Lucinda Parsons Watkins, Erven was born on July 24, 1918 at Chandler, Oklahoma and was reared and educated in the Agra area.He was united in marriage to Nellie Faye Mallonee on January 26, 1939, and had lived in the Agra area since that time. She preceded him in death on May 7, 2007.Erven farmed and worked for many years as a driller in the oilfield before retiring as a construction foreman with Flintco Construction Company.Among other things, Erven had a remarkable memory and loved to spend time visiting and sharing stories with family and friends. He cherished his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, to whom he was affectionately, known as “Big-Pa”.He is survived by five sons, Ray Watkins and his wife Carol of Ripley, Oklahoma; Joe Watkins and his wife Mary Ann of Chandler, Oklahoma; Max Watkins and his wife Margaret of Agra, Oklahoma; Danny Watkins of Agra, Oklahoma; and Mike Watkins and Wilma Hale of Agra, Oklahoma; two sisters, Ruby Williamson of Kingston, Oklahoma and Bonnie Ausbrook of Oilton, Oklahoma; eleven grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends.In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Peggy Sue Watkins; three brothers Earl Watkins, Murrel Watkins and Orval Watkins; three sisters, Lucille Matthews, Violet Morgan and Lila Sayers.Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 17, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. in the First Baptist Church of Agra with John Holderread and Roger Shaw officiating.Serving as casketbearers will be Donnie Watkins, Daniel Watkins, Derick Watkins, Kris Watkins, Dustin Watkins and John Watkins, all grandsons.Burial will follow in the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, northwest of Chandler.The family will greet friends on Friday evening, November 16, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the Floyd Family Center, east of the Funeral Home.
