BOYD LEE VICKERS
1956 - 2010


Boyd Lee Vickers, longtime Cushing resident, passed away Wednesday, May 26, 2010 at the Cushing Regional Hospital at the age of 54.
The son of Lee William and the late Mary Lois Messer Vickers, Boyd was born on January 6, 1956 in San Pedro, California.
He was the grandson of Arnold Lee and Anna Vickers of Parkland, Oklahoma and Lew and Lizzie Messer of Kendrick, Oklahoma.
Boyd began his education in San Pedro then moved to Cushing in 1962 at the age of 6 years old and completed his education in Cushing graduating from Cushing High School with the Class of 1973.
He was united in marriage to Cindy Harris in 1977 and to that union two children, Eric and Heather were born. He was later united in marriage to Teresa Phillips on November 22, 2008, and welcomed her daughter Melissa to his family.
Boyd had worked for 25 years as a dedicated employee of the City of Cushing Power Plant. He had worked earlier for Hauptfleisch Construction and for Cherokee Lines. He had a great talent for carpentry and a beautiful skill in cabinetry and was so proud to be living in the beautiful home that he and his father built together.
Boyd loved the summertime and being out on the lake boating and skiing. He loved vacations and enjoyed spending his time with friends and family at cookouts. But his favorite time was the Christmas holidays having his family all around him and watching his children and his family’s children opening and playing with their toys.
Survivors include his wife Teresa; children Eric Vickers of Linkoping, Sweden; and Heather Gallardo and her husband Alberto, of Stillwater, Oklahoma; and was so looking forward to the birth of his first grandchild, a little girl in a couple of weeks; step daughter Melissa Hunt and her husband Wilson of Sapulpa, Oklahoma; his father, Lee Vickers of Cushing; sister Carolyn Annis and her husband Bob of Purcell; niece Kristin Nowakowski and her husband Ben; and great nephews, Hayden and Holden of McLoud, Oklahoma; and many other family members and friends.
Boyd was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Vickers on January 11, 2007 and his grandparents.
Funeral services have been entrusted to the Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Cushing, Oklahoma and will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 1, 2010 in the First Assembly of God in Cushing.
Burial will follow in the Parkland Cemetery, Parkland, Oklahoma.
Visitation will be scheduled for Sunday and Monday from 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the Palmer Marler Funeral Home.
