TOMMY BURTON THREET
1930 - 2012
Tommy Burton Threet, 82, of Wellston, Oklahoma died Friday, October 26 at his home in Wellston. His final days were spent surrounded by family and friends.Tom was born June 18, 1930 in Holliday, Texas to Percy Temple and Edith Marie Threet.He spent his early years in Archer County, Texas where he grew up on a ranch which shaped his love for horses, westerns, the outdoors and all things country. Tom had various jobs before beginning his career with Greyhound Bus Lines, where he eventually retired as an active member of the Teamsters Union.Tom met his wife of 61 years, Wanda Jean Bryson, in Holliday, Texas and they were married on December 24, 1950. They lived many places throughout the U.S. before settling in Oklahoma in 1966 and moving to Wellston, Oklahoma in 1974 where they have resided for the last 38 years.He is preceded in death by his parents, Percy Threet, Edith Furrh Threet Solesbee and Melvin Solesbee; three brothers, Percy Threet Jr., Bill Threet and Mike Solesbee; two sisters, Ann Solesbee and Wanda Lee Threet; and his beloved daughter, Rhonda Fay Threet Selcer.He is survived by his wife, Wanda Jean Bryson Threet of the home; daughter, Jeannie Marie Shupe of Wellston; son, Tommy Burton Threet, Jr. and wife DaJuana of Wellston; brother, Richard Solesbee of Alabama; sisters, Sharon Threet of Texas and Judy Fay Threet of Colorado; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 30, 2012 at the Lehman Funeral Home Chapel with interment following at the Wellston Cemetery.Arrangements were under the direction of Lehman Funeral Home of Wellston.
