HARLEY WILLARD THOMPSON
1925 - 2016
Harley Willard Thompson, age 91 of Cushing, passed away on Sunday, February 21, 2016 at Drumright Nursing Home with his family by his side.Harley was born on January 23, 1925 in Perkins, Oklahoma to the late Alva Walter and Lovey Ellen Whitham Thompson.He grew up and attended school in Lincoln County and Tryon areas.Harley was baptized into the General Assembly and Church of the Firstborn in Parkland at Gin pond on February 15, 1943 by Brother Fred Herring.He married the love of his life, Fronie Herring on August 11, 1949 in Tulare, California. They lived in the Tulare and McKinleyville, California area until 1970 when they moved with their family to Agra, Oklahoma.While in Tulare, he worked for Georgia Pacific Wood Mill and also ran a dozer for several different companies.He was known for his huge garden in Agra, sharing his produce with many in the community.Harley was an avid fisherman and hunter.He considered his son to be his best friend.Harley would do anything for anyone, very generous.He moved to Cushing in 2004 to be closer to his family.Harley is survived by his daughter, Ladonna Thompson of Pawnee, brothers, Jack Thompson of Dublin, Texas and Carl Thompson of Drumright, grandchildren, Chera Myers and husband Bobby, Misty Thompson and Ross Pyle, Hayley McNeill and husband Dawson, great grandchildren Kymberlin Myers, Eliza Myers, Logan Pyle and Elliott McNeill.He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Fronie, infant son, Danny Ray Thompson, son, Harley Dwayne Thompson and daughter-in-law Twila Thompson.Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday at the General Assembly and Church of the Firstborn in Cushing.Interment will follow at Parkland Cemetery, Cushing, Oklahoma.Arrangements are entrusted to Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Cushing.
