1937 - 2011
Barbara Louise Anderson Thompson, age 74 of Cushing passed away on Thursday October 13, 2011 at the Cushing Regional Hospital.Barbara was born on August 9, 1937 in Cushing, Oklahoma to the late Vernon and Vergie Wright Anderson.She married Clifford Lee Thompson on November 10, 1954.They resided in Cushing, Oklahoma where they raised their family.Barbara was employed at Cushing Public Schools before retirement.She enjoyed cooking, gardening, fishing and playing cards. She also loved spending time with her family. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren meant the world to her.Barbara was a very strong and loving woman. She will be greatly missed by all.She was preceded in death by her parents, Vernon and Vergie Anderson; her husband Clifford Thompson; one brother, Donald Ray Anderson; and one sister, Joann Dunlap.Survivors include two sons, Jackie Thompson of Cushing; and David Thompson of Phoenix, Arizona; daughter Kathy Griffeth and her husband Joe Griffeth of Cushing; and daughter, Karen Schatz of Cushing; five grandchildren, Jason Griffeth and his wife Amber; Justin Griffeth and his wife Aimee; Lori Kelly and her husband Dustin; Ethan Thompson; and Garet Thompson; four great grandchildren, Brenden, Bret, Reagen and Chloe.She is also survived by four sisters, Betty Wickett; Joyce Wilson and husband Joe; Alice Jones and husband Tom; and Janie Anderson; four brothers, Johnnie Anderson; Jimmie Anderson and wife Bernice; Ronnie Anderson and wife Judy; and Tommy Anderson and wife Wava; all of Cushing, numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, October 17, 2011 at Oak Grove Baptist Church, Cushing. Reverend Mike Murray will officiate.Interment will follow at Parkland Cemetery, Parkland, Oklahoma.Arrangements are entrusted to Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Cushing.
