THELMA STEVENS
1950 - 2014
Durward and Thelma Overacker Stevens passed from this life on August 21, 2014; they were both 64 years of age.Thelma was born on March 31, 1950 in Tulare, California to the late Edward and Zella Overacker.She grew up in Tulare, California where she attended school and received her education and later attended OJC and received her Associates degree.Thelma was baptized into the General Assembly and Church of the Firstborn on December 17, 1969 by Brother Elvis Earnest.She was a devoted wife and mother and went wherever his work took them across the State of Oklahoma, they settled down in Sapulpa in 1988.She enjoyed spending time with her daughters cleaning houses until 2005.Thelma met and married her sweetheart Durward Stevens in Tulare, California on March 14, 1970, and to this union two daughters were born Delinda and Christle; together they traveled for his work in construction, and visited many different assemblies and met many different brethren and friends along the way.Durward and Thelma are survived by their two daughters, Delinda Rodgers and husband Greg of Drumright, Oklahoma; Christle Jones and husband Robert of Kiefer, Oklahoma; four grandchildren, Brandon and Matthew Jones; and Lacey and Sarah Rodgers; two step grandchildren, Jarrett Rodgers and wife Kristy; and Keirda Porter and husband Jeremy.Thelma is survived by her two sisters, Donna Combs and husband Carlos of Cushing; and Wanda Brinker of Cushing.She is preceded in death by her parents, and one niece Sandra Combs.Services have been entrusted to the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home of Cushing.Visitation will be from 1:00 - 6:00 p.m. on Sunday at the Palmer Marler Funeral Home in Cushing, and 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Monday at the Sapulpa Church of the Firstborn.Services will be held at the General Assembly and Church of the Firstborn in Sapulpa, Oklahoma on Tuesday, August 26 at 2:00 p.m.Burial will follow at the Parkland Cemetery in Parkland, Oklahoma.
