VERNIE STEVENSON
1943 - 2012
Vernie Stevenson, 68, of Tecumseh, passed away Thursday afternoon, January 19, 2012, in Oklahoma City.
He was born June 5, 1943, in Pinconning, Michigan, to Glen Joseph and Clara Adele Westphal Stevenson.
Vernie was raised in San Juan, Texas, until moving to Oklahoma City where he met, fell in love with, and married a beautiful girl from Choctaw by the name of Barbara Kay Waldrip. Vernie and Barbara would eventually have four children.
Among his many hobbies, Vernie enjoyed electronics, woodworking, working on cars and singing in church. He loved his family and friends. He especially loved helping those that needed it most.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.
Vernie is survived by his wife, Barbara, of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Tammy and Ed Anderson of Earlsboro; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Todd Stevenson of Shawnee, Russell and Shanna Stevenson of Shawnee, and Matthew and Kirsten Stevenson of Shawnee; brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Sue Stevenson of San Juan; two grandsons, Patrick Anderson and Devin Stevenson; one granddaughter, Tiffeny Bates; and many other friends and family.
Viewing will begin 2:00 p.m., Sunday, January 22.
Service will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, January 23, at Countryside Pentecostal Church of God with Pastor Dennis Stone officiating.
Burial will follow at New Hope Cemetery in Meeker under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
