AVIS NEOKA SPOON
1917 - 1998
Lifelong Prague resident Avis Neoka Fox Spoon died Thursday at her home. She was 81.Mrs. Spoon was born October 27, 1917, in Prague to Reuben Ober and Ruth Curtis Fox.She married Phillip F. Spoon on February 14, 1934 in Prague.She and her husband owned and operated Spoon Pump and Plumbing Co. in Prague, where she worked as a bookkeeper for many years. She had also worked as a receptionist for Dr. Burleson and for Dr. Mosley in Prague. She later worked as a clerk for Pritchett's Department Store and for the Prague Pharmacy.She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, the American Legion Auxiliary and the First Baptist Church.Survivors include her daughter, Phyllis Kott of Edmond, daughter and son-in-law, Beth and Mark Messer of Prague, one brother, Jim Fox of Oklahoma City, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, on February 26, 1988, one brother, one sister and one son-in-law.Services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday in the Parks Brothers Funeral Home Chapel, Prague, with Pastor Bob Croucher officiating.Burial will follow in the Prague Cemetery.Published December 27, 1998.
