1958 - 2010
Douglas Lee Spears was born on September 25, 1958, in Frederick, Oklahoma, and departed this life on Monday, June 28, 2010, in Roland, Oklahoma, at the age of 51.Doug, the son of James William and Jo Ellen Spears, was a former resident of Prague.He graduated from Prague High School in 1976.Doug was very active in coaching Little League football and softball while living in Prague.He married Donna Larrea Davis on July 1, 2006, in Eureka Springs, Arkansas.Doug worked as a telecommunications technician for GTE and Windstream, where he retired in 2008. After retirement, he was employeed with AT&T. Doug loved to fish and read his Bible but most of all he loved God and his family.He was preceded in death by his parents and two step-grandchildren, Elizabeth Grace and Ethan.Survivors include wife, Donna Spears of Poteau, son, Hunter Spears of Prague, daughters and son-in-law, Heather and Tom Adkins of Poteau and Hilary Waltonbaugh of Yukon, step-daughters and step-son-in-law, Kim Kardokus of Poteau and Amy and Billy Self of Poteau, sisters and brother-in-law, Janis Whitt of Desoto, Texas, Joy Martin of Prague, Darlene and Brian Jackson of Prague and Shelly Evans and fiance Chris Elmore of Shawnee, three grandchildren, Riley Jo, Rhyan Nicole and Dakota Scott, eight step-grandchildren, Tyler, Colton, Jarron, Jordan, Gavin, Hailey, Jerah and Emily, as well as numerous friends.The Spears family will receive friends on Thursday, July 1, 2010, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Parks Brothers Funeral Home in Prague.Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 2, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Parks Brothers Chapel in Prague with Palmer Smith and Bro. Lonnie Hutton officiating.Interment will follow at Prague Cemetery in Prague.Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Prague.Published July 8, 2010.
