PANSY HELEN SMITH
1916 - 2010


Pansy Helen Broyles Smith was born on October 15, 1916, in Prague, Oklahoma, and departed this life on Wednesday, September 8, 2010, in Prague, Oklahoma, at the age of 93.
Pansy lived and worked most of her life in the Prague area.
She married Sidney Roy Smith on January 25, 1936. He preceded her in death on May 1, 1967.
Pansy and Sydney owned and operated a chicken farm west of Prague.
She worked for Clyde and Gladys at the Underwood Laundry, Earl and Helen Nosalek at the Dairy Mart and for Leo Moore at Moore Grocery. She also worked for Dortha Welch’s Fashion Shop and later for Norma Burton at Maiden Voyage in Shawnee.
She was a health provider for several different senior citizens in Prague. She was an active member of the Church of Christ since 1941. Pansy was also active in many civic and community affairs, the Centerview Service Club, and served six years as president of the Keener Citizens {KC} Club, and three years on the C.O.E.D.D. advisory council. She was an active member of the Order of the Eastern Star serving in many capacities including Worthy Matron, Grand Representative to the Montana and New Jersey Grand Session of the Eastern Star, and Grand Lecturer of Oklahoma.
Pansy was also preceded in death by her parents and five sisters, Opal Dukes, Dortha Welch, Velma Markwell, Lola Smith and Bernice Parrett.
Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Duane and Bonnie Smith of Paden, daughter and son-in-law, Florita and Carl Wyatt of Konawa, brother, Lincoln Broyles of Meeker, brother-in-law, Clifford Parrett of West Plains, Missouri, grandchildren, Gwendolyn and Clint Mindeman, Timothy and Elaine Wyatt, Curtis Smith, Kevin and Teresa Wyatt, Samantha and John Layden, Shelby and Doug Walling and Clay and Jennifer Smith; sixteen great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren and numerous friends.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, September 11, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Parks Brothers Funeral Chapel in Prague with Lonnie Hutton officiating.
Burial followed at Prague Cemetery in Prague, Oklahoma.
Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Prague.
