Barbara “Bobbie” McKeown Smith passed away Wednesday, March 20, 2013 in the Stillwater Medical Center at the age of 94 years.The daughter of the late Henry Glen McKeown and Ada Beck McKeown, Bobbie was born November 12, 1918 in Agra, Oklahoma and was raised and educated in the Agra area. She graduated from Agra High School at the age of 16 as the valedictorian of the class of 1935. She was also proud of the fact that while a junior in high school, she took the Kansas test {similar to the SAT} achieving the highest score ever made at the time.She was united in marriage to Glen Smith on November 14, 1937 in Agra. This past November the couple celebrated 75 years of marriage.During World War II, while living in Ponca City, she started work as a telephone operator later attending several different banking schools, working in a bank for several years.She was a member of the Agra Methodist Church.She enjoyed reading, helping Glen on the farm and spending time with her family and friends.She is survived by her husband Glen of the home; one son Gary “Buddy” Smith and his wife Charlotte of Agra; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Francis Glen Smith; one brother, Jack McKeown and one sister, Margaret Franks.Graveside services will be Saturday, March 23, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in the Osage Cemetery at Agra.Visitation will be for the family only.
