The community northwest of our city and Cheyenne itself were shocked last Wednesday evening by the death of Mrs. Herman Carl Scott, the only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Carl of that community.

Mrs. Scott had been sick about three weeks and been in a serious condition for about a week. Her death was a result of typhoid fever.

It is said that throughout her entire illness that she never lost consciousness, even when her fever was 105. She bore her illness with patience and fortitude.

Mrs. Scott was formerly Miss Norma Carl and was born near Carney, Oklahoma, Lincoln County, December 24, 1904 and came with her parents to western Oklahoma in 1908.

She attended the Cheyenne school and graduated from the high school with the class of 1924 as one of the prominent students. She then taught one term in the Clifford district near Crawford.

On July 14, 1925 she was married to Mr. Herman Scott, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Scott who resides northeast of Cheyenne; she passed from this life July 21, 1926, just one year later.

Her parents, an only brother and the young husband are all grief stricken over her departure and to them goes the sympathy of all of their many friends.

The funeral services were conducted in the Baptist church of this city Thursday afternoon in the presence of a very large crowd of friends being one of the largest attended funerals ever conducted here.

The pall bearers were members of the class she graduated with and offered a tribute to her memory in the form of flowers in the class colors. The casket was laid blanketed with flowers bestowed by friends and loved ones. The body was laid to rest in the Cheyenne cemetery, Cheyenne, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma.

Norma was a sweet girl who was loved by all.

She was converted at the age of eighteen. Just why one so young should have to go. We can not understand, but realizing that this is a debt all must pay, we must bow and submit to the will of Him who doeth all things well.
