Former Sparks resident Floyd Daniel Schoenecke died Wednesday in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Born July 27, 1923 at Sparks, he was the third son of Sadie Bierman and Fred L. Schoenecke. He graduated with honors in May 1941 from Sparks High School.

He left Sparks to harvest wheat in Kansas and was called to Washington, D. C., to work in the Veteran's Administration as a typist.

Mr. Schoenecke worked there until January 15, 1942, when he left to join the U. S. Army Air Force. He was stationed in California and Spokane, Washington. From 1945 to January 1947 he served in Japan, where he was a sergeant in charge of supplies.

He moved in February 1947 to Salt Lake City, where he owned the Ritz Bowling Alley Cafe. He also owned the Deluxe Bowling Alley Cafe in Murray and the Murray Transfer Company.

After that, he drove long-haul trucks for a number of years, including twenty five years with St. Regis before he retired in 1984.

In 1945 Mr. Schoenecke married Minnie Delar, who preceded him in death. He married Margaret Bleazard in 1961. That marriage ended in divorce.

In 1976 he married Melba Clark, who preceded him in death on March 16, 1999.

Floyd is survived by three brothers and sisters-in-law, John and June of Claremore, Oklahoma; Charles and Ruth of McLoud; and Roy and Mary Louise of Livermore, California; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He also is survived by his best friend, Shirley Nonhoff; a step-son and his wife, Larry and Karen Clark; and stepdaughter and her husband, Marge and DelRoy Williams of Salt Lake City; many stepgrandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends.

Services are set for 11:00 a.m. Monday at the Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 S. State St., Murray, Utah, where friends may call from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Sunday and one hour before the Monday service.

Burial will follow in Valley View Memorial Park.
