MARK HAROLD SCHMITT
1957 - 2013


Mark Harold Schmitt, a longtime Cushing resident, passed away on Saturday November 1, 2013 in his home surrounded by his loving family at the age of 56 years.
The son of the late Jack and Shirley Schmitt, Mark was born on July 22, 1957 in Blackwell Oklahoma. He grew up in Blackwell and graduated from Blackwell High School in 1975 and later joined the United States Army.
Mark worked for OSU Student Union Mechanical Maintenance, retiring in 2007.
He married Pam Cooper on March 10, 2000 at the First Freewill Baptist Church in Cushing.
Mark enjoyed shooting his guns and cannons inside and outside city limits; he loved to fish and spending time with his children and grandchildren. Mark especially enjoyed picking on people and having fun, those who knew Mark the best might call him “ONARY”; he was a hard worker and would always be there to lend a hand when help was needed.
Mark was one that never met a stranger and was very friendly with a good sense of humor.
Survivors include his wife Pamela Schmitt of the home; two sons, Brandon Junkins and his wife Ewelina of Yukon, Oklahoma; and Brett Britton and his wife J. J. of Las Vegas, Nevada; three daughters, Tracy Schmitt of Florida; Karen Schmitt-Page and her husband Cody of Cushing; Virginia Schmitt of Cushing; two sisters Mary Beth Smith of Oklahoma City; and Barbara Kuntz and husband Wes of Yukon, Oklahoma; brothers Travis Cowen of Oklahoma City; and Tracy Cowen of Oklahoma City; eight grandchildren, Alex, Dominick, Emma, Anthony, Alexa, Orion, Cannon and Hope; and other nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, Mark was preceded in death by his step-father Jack Cowen.
Funeral services have been entrusted to the care of the Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Cushing, Oklahoma and will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, November 4, 2013 in the Palmer Marler Funeral Home Chapel.
Interment will follow at the Tryon Cemetery.
