DOROTHY EDNA SALTER-ZIMMERMAN
1926 - 2015
Dorothy Edna Shively Zimmerman was born December 22, 1926 in Shamokin, Pennsylvania to Francis and Pearl Shively.She passed away January 30, 2015 in Henrietta, Oklahoma at the age of 88.Dorothy had one brother, Hank, and two sisters, Thelma and Phyllis.She is survived by Phyllis, who still lives in Pennsylvania.Dorothy married Siebert Salter and together, had two children, Merri and Scott. They moved to Meeker, Oklahoma in 1992 and Siebert passed away due to an auto accident in 1993 after 46 years of marriage.She is survived by her daughter Merri England and her grandson George England.In 2003, she was remarried to Ray Zimmerman, who she is also survived by.Dorothy lived a long full life during which, she loved to travel. She has been all over the United States, including Hawaii. She also loved painting ceramics, knitting and especially birds and Chihuahuas.In 1995, Dorothy and her daughter, Merri, opened an ice cream store in Meeker called Seibert's Sweet Shop in honor of her first husband's love of all things sweet.She was also a member of the Meeker Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star.A graveside funeral will be held to celebrate Dorothy’s life at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at the New Hope Cemetery in Meeker, Oklahoma. Mike Melton will officiate the service.Arrangements were under the direction of Lehman Funeral Home of Wellston.
