ETHEL LUCILLE RODGERS
1927 - 2010

Ethel Lucille Tibbett Rodgers, a longtime Cushing, Oklahoma area resident, passed away on Wednesday, March 24, 2010 in the Select Specialty Hospital in Tulsa, OK at the age of 83 years.
The daughter of the late Robert "Bob" Tibbett and Gladys C. Herrmann Tibbett, Ethel was born on January 7, 1927 near Parkland.
She was reared and educated in the Cushing area graduating from Cushing High School with the class of 1944.
Just before her graduation Ethel was united in marriage to Kenneth Rodgers on March 6, 1944 in Cushing.
Following her husband’s service in the military during World War II, the couple made their home in Cushing.
Ethel and Kenneth then purchased a farm south of Cushing where they ran a dairy and raised peanuts. They continued living in the Cushing area until they moved to Colorado in 1959 where they stayed until 1979 before returning to Cushing. They eventually began spending the majority of their summers in Colorado and their winters in Oklahoma.
While Ethel and Kenneth lived in Colorado they owned and operated several lodges including one in Glenhaven, a ski lodge in Stoner, and the Jump Steady Lodge in Buena Vista. Ethel and some of her family also performed in the first ever melodrama in Colorado.
While living in Oklahoma, Ethel owned Granny's Country Kitchen in Chandler and had currently been a part owner of the Shiloh's restaurant in Tulsa.
In her spare time Ethel loved decorating and cooking. Many will remember Ethel as the greatest cook they ever knew, but her family will remember her most for being the best mom anyone could ever have and as a woman that would do anything for anybody.
Survivors include her husband of 66 years, Kenneth; one daughter, Pamela Jean Hughey and her husband Larry of Broken Arrow; one son, Mark Rodgers and his wife Anita of Dolores, Colorado; one brother, Wayne Tibbett and his wife Alfreda of Cushing, Oklahoma; eight grandchildren, Teri Kidd, Shanna Lawrence, William Lawrence, Lori Nelson, Shane Pym, Geoffery Rodgers, Matthew Rodgers and Caitlin Rodgers; nine great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents, Ethel was preceded in death by one grandson Eric Beeks; nephew Darrel Tibbett; and one great-granddaughter, Ashley Dawn.
Funeral services have been entrusted to the Palmer Marler Funeral Home at Cushing and will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, March 29, 2010 in the Church of the Firstborn, Cushing, Oklahoma with Brothers Fred Britton and Aaron Whitfield officiating.
Burial will follow at the Parkland Cemetery, Parkland, Oklahoma.
