GARY DON REID
1941 - 2012
Gary Don Reid, 70, of Oklahoma City, passed away Wednesday, April 12, 2012, at his home.
He was born November 25, 1941, in Shawnee, the son of Robert L. Reid and Dottie E. Reid.
He graduated from St. Gregory's High School and continued on at St. Gregory's College his freshman year, then transferred to OSU his sophomore year.
He married Anita Gail Taylor in August 1965 in Shawnee, while employed at Roy's Auto Supply.
He later was employed by Tinker Air Force Base until the mid 1970s.
He was retired after 30 years as a new car salesman in the Greater OKC Metro Area.
Gary was a member of the National Jaguar Association, long-time supporter of Sooner Drag Boat Association; Second Amendment Foundation, and NRA. He was passionate about hot rods, motorcycles, World War II history, and 1:18 scale trains. He enjoyed antique Fostoria and was a classic wooden boat enthusiast. He also was an avid collector of firearms.
Gary was preceded in death by his father, Robert Lawson Reid; grandfather, K. L. Reid; and grandmother, Effie Reid.
He is survived by one son, Kent L. Reid and wife, Paula, of Mustang; one daughter, Jami A. Reid of Oklahoma City; mother, Dottie Anderson of Shawnee; two sisters, Charlene Coffin of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and Diana Burton of Okmulgee; five grandchildren, Cameron, Ambra, Mylan, Makenzie, and Graydon.
Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 18, at New Hope Cemetery in Meeker.
