Myrtle P. Lokey Reed was born on June 6, 1913, in Payson Oklahoma, and departed this life on Thursday, August 1, 2013, in Shawnee Oklahoma, at the age of 100.Myrtle, the daughter of John Franklin and Flossie Florence Bunger Lokey, was a resident of Shawnee.She married Delster Lane Reed on November 22, 1930 in Pottawatomie county. They made their home hear Delhi, California for 20 years, returning to rural Seminole County in the mid 1950s. Myrtle moved to Shawnee in 1987.Her hobbies included sewing, quilting, cooking and gardening. Growing roses was a particular passion.Myrtle obtained her real estate license and operated her own real estate agency for several years. She enjoyed traveling. Several of her trips involved service to her church.She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three brothers, Frank Lokey, Floyd Lokey and Aaron Lokey; and two sisters, Jewel Byrd and Betty Lou.Survivors include her daughter, Saundra Reed of Shawnee; son and daughter-in-law, Allan and Clarisse Reed of Moore; sister, Mary Myers of Portland, Oregon; granddaughter, Dr. Mary Kosko of Shawnee and great-grandson, Andy Kosko of Dallas, Texas. as well as other relatives and numerous friends.Memorials may be made to Heartland Hospice, Liberty Baptist Church, or St. Anthony's Foundation in Shawnee.The Reed family will receive friends on Friday evening, August 2, at Liberty Baptist Church from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m.Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 3, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Liberty Baptist Church in Shawnee with Brother Bill Mathews and Brother Phil Thompson officiating.Interment will follow at the Prague Cemetery.Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home.
