1924 - 2010
A life-long Wellston resident Jack Hendricks Ray, 85, passed away peacefully Sunday January 31 in Norman, Oklahoma.Jack was born in Wellston, July 3, 1924 to Thomas and Alva Ray.He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. During the Asiatic Pacific Campaign he was a radioman serving nearly three years. After his service in the Navy, he returned to Wellston and worked at Tinker Air Force Base for 31 years until retirement.In 1957, Jack fell in love and married Anna.Jack was a long time member of the Wellston American Legion, post 61 serving as Post Adjutant for 30 years.Jack is preceded in death by his wife, Anna; parents Thomas and Alva; step-son, Bill Foutch; two brothers and three sisters.He is survived by his step-son, Mike Foutch of Wellston; four grandchildren, Stacy, Lisa, Billy Jack, and Jamie, all of Edmond; two great grand-children, Jonathon McWhorter and Sarah Taylor; niece, Marlene Anderson of Tulsa; special friend Kay Karr of California; and many other family members and friends who share fond memories of their time with Jack.As a long time resident of Wellston, Jack will be missed by many.A funeral service was held in the Chapel at Lehman Funeral Home 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 6 with interment following in the Luther Cemetery with military honors from the United States Navy.Services under the direction of Lehman Funeral Home of Wellston.
