KATHERINE V. PROUGH
1942 - 2012

Katherine V. Reed Prough, 70, of Wellston, Oklahoma went home to be with her Lord on Thursday, November 8, 2012, at her home.
She was born in Ponca City, Oklahoma in Kay County on May 15, 1942 to Mr. and Mrs. Amory E. Reed of Kaw City, Oklahoma.
She met and then married Ronald Ray Prough on May 1, 1961. They were married for fifteen years until the marriage ended in divorce.
She was predeceased by her parents and her Uncle Guy Reed.
Kathy is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Trisha K. and Terry Ford, of Wellston, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Amanda and Joshua Ray Prough; sisters Phyllis and Wilma; brothers, Gary and Jerry; several nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
She was retired from St. Anthony Hospital as an X-ray Tech. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Wellston and The Order of Eastern Star. My mother was faithful in reading a Bible scripture every morning. She was brought up with traditional values and learned skills that a woman of her era should – canning, sewing, knitting and embroidery, as well as a love and talent for craft making and crossword puzzles. Our family grew up with little money, but we were always well fed and dressed. My mother spent hours in her sewing room making beautiful outfits for me to wear in my youth or knitting hats and scarves in preparation for winter. It reminds me of the song by Dolly Parton "Coat of Many Colors." She was a very strong and thoughtful person. When she would go to the store she would always ask if I needed something or wanted anything. It's hard to put 48 years in a couple of paragraphs. Deuteronomy 6:5-9 "And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might."
Saying goodbye when you know it is forever is heart wrenching. To Mom from your daughter, I say this: "I love you dearly and will cherish you always. I don't mourn your passing. Instead, I am filled with gratitude that you enriched my life in so many ways. This world was much improved by your being in it." John 3:16-17 "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."
Kathy requested that no funeral service be held and she will be laid to rest at the Wellston Cemetery at a later date.
