Betty Mae Brooks Pound, a longtime Cushing resident, passed away on Monday May 9, 2011 in Woodway, Texas at the age of 84 years.Betty was the daughter of the late Albert F. and Birdie B. Moore Brooks.She was born on August 19, 1926 in Agra.Betty was baptized into the Church of the Firstborn at 16 years of age.She was a member of the Cushing Golf and the Beta Sorority; she loved to travel including flying to Canada and numerous other states.Betty had previously worked at J. C. Penney's and Woolsworth.She married L. H. {Budz} Pound in Borger, Texas on August 30, 1947. To this union two children were born, Cassandra "Cassie" and Terry A. Pound.Survivors include Cassie Kennedy and her husband Jack of Woodway, Texas; daughter-in-law Sandra Pound of Cushing; sister Lois Kanady of Cushing; brothers Edgar Brooks of Longview, Texas; and Wayne Brooks and wife Genora of Midwest City; five grandchildren, Denae Kennedy, Jacklyn Kennedy, and Allison Louis and husband Donald all of Waco, Texas; Sasha Martinez and her husband Adrian of Dallas, Texas; and Amanda Venk and her husband Justin of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; one great-granddaughter Sarah Kennedy of Waco,Texaqs; and two great-grandsons, Chayton Louis of Waco, Texas; and Hudson Terrance Martinez of Dallas, Texas; sister-in-law Nell Pound of Deer Park, Texas; and two nephews Jeff Pound of Deer Park, Texas; and Rodney Pound of Cedar Park, Texas.In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband Bud; and son Terry Pound; sisters Ardie Carter; and Margie Greenfield; brothers Alfred, Marvin and Wilbur Brooks.Funeral services have been entrusted to the care of the Palmer Marler Funeral Home in Cushing, Oklahoma and will be held Monday, May 16, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at the Church of the Firstborn, Cushing, Oklahoma with burial to follow in the Parkland Cemetery, Parkland, Oklahoma.
