FARISH TEDDY PORTER
1931 - 2008
Funeral services for Farish Teddy Porter, age 76, of Carney, Oklahoma will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 13, 2008 at First Assembly of God Church of Carney with Pastor Darel Loudan officiating.
Farish was born on April 21, 1931 in Merrick, Oklahoma to Erwin E. and Gypsy Pearl Howard Porter.
He died March 10, 2008 in Guthrie.
Farish was a farmer all his life and a pipe fitter for Sun Oil Company for 26 years.
He and his wife, Barbara owned and operated Phillips 66 in Carney for 8 years. After his retirement in 1991, his hobby became gardening and he loved to plant trees. He was a wonderful grandfather and will be missed by his family, church family and friends.
He is survived by his wife Barbara Jean Porter of the home; four sons, A. Dean Porter of Seattle, Washington; Gary C. Porter, Mark T. Porter and J. David Porter, all of Carney; two daughters, Cynthia Owen and husband Dale of Perry Oklahoma; and Lory Porter of Guthrie; one step-daughter, Vickie Hendricks and husband Allen of Shawnee, Oklahoma; three brothers, Eddie Porter and wife Mary of Bakersfield California; Elmer Porter of Guthrie; and Bill Porter and wife Betty of Collinsville, Oklahoma; ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Farish is preceded in death by his parents; one step-son, Jack Porter; two sisters, Jewel and Margie; one brother, Jody Porter and one niece, Shirley Mahar.
Visitation will be held at Smith-Gallo Funeral Home on Wednesday until 8:00 p.m. and Thursday 8:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.
Burial will follow at Carney Cemetery.
Services are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, Guthrie, Oklahoma.
