BETTY ROSA PITTSER
1923 - 2010
Betty Rosa Stockwell Pittser, a Tryon resident, passed away on July 28, 2010 in the Stillwater Medical Center at the age of 87 years.The daughter of the late Michael Stockwell and Rena Wise Stockwell, Betty was born on June 9, 1923 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.She was reared and educated in the Tulsa area.On December 24, 1938 Betty was united in marriage to Floyd Pittser in Sapulpa, Oklahoma. The Pittser’s eventually made their home in Lincoln County, living in Agra and settling in Tryon.Betty owned a restaurant in Agra and one in Tryon in the 1970’s. Many will remember Betty from her time working at the Steer Inn in Cushing or while she worked for O.S.U. in Stillwater in the Student Housing, House Keeping, and Bakery Departments.In her spare time she enjoyed reading and traveling, especially to California and to the desert.Betty was baptized into the General Assembly and Church of the Firstborn.Survivors include one son, Tom Pittser and his wife Lerie of Edmond, Oklahoma; one son-in-law, Larry Martin; one daughter-in-law, Nancy Pittser; sixteen grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; many great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends including her longtime friend Earl Rogers of Tryon.In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband Floyd; two daughters, Linda Martin and Betty Ann Greenfield; sons, Michael Pittser, Eric Doyle Pittser and an infant boy; and three sisters.Funeral services have been entrusted to the Palmer Marler Funeral Home in Cushing and will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 31, 2010 in the Palmer Marler Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Bud McFarlin Officiating.
