THOMAS LEROY PILKINTON
1947 - 2007
Thomas Leroy Pilkinton, a retired employee of National Standard and an avid OU fan, passed away on Monday, October 8, 2007 at his home in Yale at the age of 60 years.Thomas was born on September 9, 1947 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Harold Pinkie Pilkinton and Ollie Josephine {Horton} Pilkinton.He grew up in Agra, graduating from Agra High School with the class of 1965.He had attended Oklahoma State University for two years before serving in the United States Air Force. After receiving his honorable discharge, Thomas moved back to Oklahoma where he began working for National Standard in Stillwater.On May 27, 1977 Thomas was united in marriage to Patricia Gail Steward. Thomas and Pat made their home in Yale where they began raising their two sons, Chance and Mark.Thomas enjoyed being active in any sports activity that he could, but many will remember him for his hours of volunteer work he did for the “Little Dribblers” and the numerous basketball games that he refereed in the Yale, Agra, Oilton, and Drumright areas.Survivors include his wife Pat of the home in Yale; two sons, Chance Pilkinton of Yale; and Mark LaForme of Quantico, Virginia; two grandchildren, Morgan Harrison Pilkinton and Gavin Michael LaForme; and other relatives and friends.Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Ollie; step-father Roy Pool; and one brother, James “Jimmy” Pilkinton.Graveside services for Thomas will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, October 11, 2007 in the Osage Cemetery, Agra, Oklahoma with Brother Mich Dershem officiating.Thomas will be available for viewing at the funeral home from 8:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 10.Services have been entrusted to the Palmer Marler Funeral Home in Cushing.
