ROSALIE JUNE PERKINS
1936 - 2016
Rosalie June Wheeler Perkins was born on Saturday, June 13, 1936, in Guthrie, Oklahoma, and departed this life on Wednesday, August 31, 2016, in Tulsa Oklahoma, at the age of 80.Rosalie, the daughter of Roland and Minerva Tracey Wheeler, was a longtime resident of Prague.She married David Perkins on July 3, 1954 in Franklin, Oklahoma.Rosalie had many talents, she was an artist, and a wonderful gardener, she was a tremendous cook who would show up at the homes of sick friends and family members with a hot meal she’d prepared. A lover of birds, nature and beauty, she also enjoyed collecting antique glass.Rosalie was a gifted seamstress and a thread artist, utilizing these skills to create numerous works of art and costumes for the annual Prague Kolache Festival. Additionally, she would often design and craft outfits for people who needed special help getting an item that was difficult to find or to fit. She enjoyed sharing her passion for sewing and was happy to pass this knowledge on, teaching countless people the technique she developed for painting with thread.Even late in her life, Rosalie didn’t stop teaching and served as an instructor at an alternative school for troubled teens. Most importantly, she was devoted to her family, who will miss her sense of humor, love and support.Rosalie's parents and husband preceded her in death.Survivors include daughters and son-in-law, Faye Ann Perkins of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Gail Denise and Martin Landry of Allen, Texas; granddaughter, Amelia Landry of Allen, Texas; sister, Lila Mulkey of Moore; nieces, Vickie Diane Coulter of Moore, Rhonda Lynn Hottel of Oklahoma City and Elizabeth McDoulett of Tulsa and many other family and friends.Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 3, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Parks Brothers Funeral Chapel in Prague with Rev. Derrek Belase officiating.Interment will follow at Noble IOOF Cemetery in Noble.Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Prague.
