EARNIE RAY PENROD
1930 - 2012


Earnie Ray Penrod of Farmington, New Mexico departed this life September 2, 2012 at the age of 82 years, 2 months, and 12 days. He was born on June 21, 1930 at Parkland, Oklahoma to Nolon and Ethel Howard Penrod.
Earnie attended Parkland school. He started working in the oil field at that age of 18; his work took him to New Mexico, Utah, and Colorado. He retired in 1995 from Arapahoe Drilling Company as a tool pusher.
He enjoyed reading, taking trips in the RV and spending time at Vallecito Lake in Colorado.
Earnie was a self taught engineer, he could always figure out how to fix just about anything.
He married Martha May Brown on May 11, 1952, she preceded him in death on January 13, 2012. Also preceding him in death were his parents Nolon and Ethel Penrod; a sister, Karen Penrod; one brother, Don Penrod; and one son-in-law, Don Carey.
Survivors include one daughter, Carlotta Carey of Atoka, Oklahoma; one son, Jimmie Penrod and his wife Patti of Farmington, New Mexico; one grandson, Eric Carey and his wife Jamie of Tushka, Oklahoma; two granddaughters, Kristi Barnes and husband Donald of McAlester, Oklahoma; and Sara Jiron and her husband Josh of Phoenix, Arizona; six great-grandchildren, Ty Brewster, Sekret Henry, Whisper Carey, Tuff Carey, Daniel Barnes and Katrina Barnes; four sisters, Dolores Shepherd of Mesa, Arizona; Colleen Taylor of Arkansas City, Kansas; Barbara Brown and her husband Gary of Friona, Texas;p and Lila Ernst and her husband Richard of Agra, Oklahoma; one brother, Darrel Penrod of Yukon, Oklahoma; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
He was a kind and gentle man all of his life. He will be missed.
Funeral services have been entrusted to the care of the Palmer Marler Funeral Home in Cushing and will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 8, 2012 in the General Assembly and Church of the Firstborn, Cushing, Oklahoma with Brother Fred Britton and Brother Brad Carey officiating.
Burial will follow in the Parkland Cemetery, Parkland, Oklahoma.
