BARBARA GAIL PAYNE
1956 - 2013


Barbara Gail McLain Payne was born November 14, 1956 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Jody and Pat Richmond McLain.
She departed this life August 21, 2013 at the age of 56 years.
She graduated with honors from the Chandler High School class of 1975. Upon graduation, she enlisted in the Oklahoma Army National Guard where she was one of the first females to serve with the 1/160th Field Artillery.
She married Jimmie W. Payne on November 19, 1976 in Chandler, Oklahoma. They were married 37 years. To this union one son was born, Jarod Lee Payne.
Gail worked 22 years in the Oklahoma Military Department. The last 7 years she served as the Deputy Court Clerk for Lincoln County.
She loved traveling, crafting, gardening and most of all spending time with her precious grandchildren.
She was a member of the Wellston Missionary Baptist Church and she taught Vacation Bible School every year.
She was a graduate of Faith Bible Institute of Monroe, Louisiana after a three year study.
Gail was preceded in death by her father, Jody McLain.
She is survived by her husband, Jimmie Payne, of the home; son, Jarod Payne and his wife Sarah; four grandchildren, Kailee, Jimmie Thomas, Christopher, and Caleb, all of Chandler; mother, Pat McLain; brothers Kenneth McLain and his wife Connie of Russellville, Arkansas; David McLain and his wife Debbie of Purcell; sister, Anita Stephens and husband Kevan, of Edmond.
A funeral will be held at 10:00 a.m. at the Missionary Baptist Church in Wellston, Oklahoma with interment following in the Wellston Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Lehman Funeral Home of Wellston.
