ZELLA LOUISE OVERACKER
1931 - 2009
Zella Louise Corter Overacker, passed away in her home Sunday, August 30, 2009 at the age of 78.She was born in Tahlequah, Oklahoma to Johney and Rosa Carmichael Corter on May 2, 1931.The family moved to California from Oklahoma when all the children were little.Zella was baptized by her father Brother Johney Corter into the Church of the Firstborn on June 20, 1943 when she was 12 years old.She married Edward Willis Overacker in Tulare, California on June 2, 1948. They lived in Visalia, California until 1982 when they moved to Cushing, Oklahoma.Zella was preceded in death by her parents; one sister Shirley Corter; three brothers Charles Everet Corter, Harvey Eugene Corter and Marlin Wayne Corter; granddaughter Sandra DeAnne Combs; and son-in-law Randy Brinker.She is survived by her husband Edward Overacker; three daughters, Thelma Stevens and husband Durward of Drumright; Donna Combs and husband Carlos of Cushing; and Wanda Brinker of Cushing; brother Melfouse Corter and wife Virginia of Agra; sister Velma Huckabay of Brewster, Washington; two granddaughters, Delinda Rodgers and husband Gregg, and Christle Jones and husband Robert; one grandson Cyle Combs; four great grandchildren Brandon and Matthew Jones; and Lacey and Sarah Rodgers; two step great grandchildren Jarett Rodgers and Keidra Porter; four step great great grandchildren Raider and Riley Rodgers; and Abigail and Landon Porter.Funeral services will be held at the 10:00 a.m., Friday, September 4, 2009 at the Church of the Firstborn in Cushing.Interment will follow at the Parkland Cemetery, Parkland, Oklahoma.Brother George Wright and Brother Jerry Wittman will officiate.Casketbearers will be Tim Corter, Charles Corter, Wayne Corter, Richard Corter, Marvin Sweezy and Robbie Todd. Honorary casketbearer will be Cyle Combs.
