1907- 2008
Clarence O. Ninness, age 100 of Stroud, passed away on Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at the Rainbow Nursing Home, Bristow, Oklahoma.He was born on December 25, 1907 in Stroud, Oklahoma to George Richard and Julia Etta English Ninness.He grew in Stroud and moved to Illinois at the age of 7. He moved back to Lincoln County when he was 22.Clarence married Hortense Royer on April 8, 1930 in Chandler.He worked for Allied Asphalt Company for over 20 years.Clarence started his dairy in 1953 and operated the business until 1964. He sold the dairy in 1964 and began pecan farming. He enjoyed grafting pecan trees, farming and raising cattle.Clarence was a member of the First Baptist Church in Davenport.He loved arguing politics and was usually correct.Clarence was survived by his wife of 78 years, Hortense of the home; sons Romeyn Ninness and wife Patsy of Davenport; Marathon Jack Ninness and wife Mary of Enid; six grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and five great great grandchildren' as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends.He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Myra Jean Ninness; son Wybert Dee Ninness; sister Mabel Bunker and Irene Pollard; brothers Elvis Ninness; Oscar Down Ninness and Jesse Ninness.Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m., Friday at the First Baptist Church, 123 Claussen, Davenport, Oklahoma.Interment will follow at the Stroud Cemetery. Brother Mike Mitchell will officiate.Visitation will be held at the First Baptist Church in Davenport from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 31, 2008.Arrangements are entrusted to Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Cushing.
