1933 - 2014
Luther O. "Tunk" Myers, Jr, 80, of Bartlesville, Oklahoma and formerly of Costa Mesa, California went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, March 21, 2014 at 4:04 a.m.
He was born in Pawhuska, Oklahoma on August 9, 1933 to Margie Todd Myers and the late Luther Oscar Myers, Sr.
Tunk graduated from Sedan High School in 1951 and attended Coffeyville Community College. After college he was drafted into the U.S. Navy and served his country with great pride. After his honorable discharge from the Navy, he went to work for Phillips Petroleum Company for 10 years. During his tenure with Phillips he was awarded 4 patents in plastic technology. He was admitted to MENSA in 1974. He retired from the Sony Trans Com, Inc. in 2000.
Tunk married Judith Sherol Swan on August 9, 1971. They made their home in the Pawhuska area until their move to California in 1972. They were married 42 years and have 5 children. {two sons and three daughters}.
Tunk is survived by his wife, Judy Myers of the home; five children, daughter Marla Myers, Claremore; daughter Ninetta and Joseph Peritore, Caltagirone, Sicily; daughter Doris and Nathan Howe, Tulsa; son Kelley and Kelly Ramey, Pawhuska; son Patrick and Kelly Myers, Riverside, California; his mother Margie Myers of Sedan, Kansas; one brother Tommy and Ruth Myers, Wellston, Oklahoma; one sister Sue and Clifford Jadwin, Salem, Missouri; nine grandchildren: Megan Rosenberg, Daniel Harwick, Shelby Williams, Courtney Williams, William Ramey, Kristin Ramey, Kyle Myers, Justin Myers and Jalynn Myers; and one great granddaughter, Breanna Harwick; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Tunk will be cremated by the Stumpff Funeral Home of Bartlesville.
Memorial services will be Monday, March 24th at the Nazarene Church in Barnsdall at 2:00 p.m. officiated by Pastor Jim Johnson.
