JAMES ROY MILNER
1926 - 2010
James Roy Milner was born June 16, 1926, in Cedar Grove, Missouri and died Thursday, December 23, 2010, at the age of 84 years.He was the son of Richard Baley Milner and Orilla Shirkey Milner.He married LaVola Herrold in 1949.A graduate of Mooreland High School, he served in the U. S. Navy during World War II.He taught school for nine years before becoming a sanitarian at the Oklahoma State Department of Health from which he retired.He was a member of First Christian Church in Wellston.Preceding him in death were his parents, his wife, his siblings, Richard, Sid, Robert and Ruby and his son, Frank Herrold.Survivors include his daughter, VaLeta Megehee; two grandchildren; five great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; his sister, Nelle Pope of San Antonio, Texas; a brother, Bill; and other family and friends.Funeral services were held Tuesday, December 28, 2010, at First Christian Church in Wellston with Pastor Brent Avery officiating.Burial followed at Wellston Cemetery under the direction of Brown's Funeral Parlor in Wellston.Published December 30, 2010.
