VIOLA JOAN McVEY
1954 - 2013


Viola Joan “Joanie” Butler McVey, 58, passed away on Monday, June 17, 2013 at Westhaven Nursing Home, Stillwater, Oklahoma. Joanie was born on July 28, 1954 in Checotah, Oklahoma to Ben and Marjorie Macom Butler.
Joanie grew up in Eufaula and Tryon and attended Tryon High School.
On February 10, 1978 she married Mark McVey in Tryon, Oklahoma. Together they celebrated thirty five years of marriage.
Joanie worked for the North Side Laundry.
She was a strong woman and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and traveling on vacation, but most of all hanging out with all of her family and friends.
Survivors are her husband, Mark McVey of the home; one daughter, Magen McVey of Sidney, Montana; one son, Jeffrey Clawson and Halona of Perry; six sisters, Margie Anderson and her husband Steve of Perkins, Cathy Day and her husband, George of Yale, Carolyn Savory and her husband Will of Wellston, Missie Tuley and her husband, Ron of Tryon, Belinda Fowler and her husband Marty of Perkins and Becky Butler of Perkins; three brothers, Rick Butler of Stillwater, Frankie Butler and Lori of Stillwater and Rusty Butler of Perkins; six grandchildren, Cade Cox, Noah Clawson, Liam Clawson, Kyle McVey, Logan McVey and Zoey McVey as well as and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Ben and Marjorie Butler; siblings, Benny Butler, Baby Butler, Chuck Butler, Bill Butler, Don Butler and Robin Miller; one niece, Jennifer Savory and one nephew, Josh Miller.
Memorial service will be held Friday, June 21, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the Palmer Marler Funeral Home Chapel in Stillwater, Oklahoma, with Chaplin Ron Keeling, officiating.
