LOIS MABEL McELVANY
1924 - 2016
Lois Mabel Gurley McElvany was born on December 17, 1924, in St. Louis, Missouri, and departed this life on April 29, 2016, in Shawnee, Oklahoma, at the age of 91.Lois was the daughter of Hanly and Mabel Stark Gurley.She lived in California and then Utah. She later came to reside in Meeker.Lois married Robert Leroy “Buster” McElvany on April 14, 1964.She enjoyed spending time with her family and watching her favorite television shows.She became a resident of the Meeker Nursing Center where she expanded her circle of family and friends for the last nine years.Lois’s husband, Robert McElvany, father, Hanly Gurley, mother, Mabel Gurley, brother, Bud Gurley and daughter, Sondra Austin preceded her in death.She is survived by her son, Robert L. McElvany Jr. of Salem, Oregon; daughters, Sue Phillips of Shawnee, Oklahoma and Darlene Taylor of Midwest City, Oklahoma and numerous nieces, nephews and great grandchildren.A graveside memorial service will be held on Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. at Prague Cemetery with Bro Tim Emmons officiating.Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Prague.
