1937 - 2008


Funeral services for Jack R. Martin of Stillwater, Oklahoma are scheduled for 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 9, 2008 at the Palmer-Marler-Carberry Funeral Home Chapel with interment in the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, near Chandler, Oklahoma.
Services are under the direction of Palmer-Marler-Carberry Funeral Home.
Mr. Martin was born on April 19, 1937 to Jimson Claude and Juanita Sharp Martin in Eureka, Kansas.
He grew up and attended school in Eureka, Kansas and later moved to Stillwater, Oklahoma in 1962 where he owned and operated, with his brothers, J &M Pest Control for several years.
He was a member of the HBA Horsemans Association and Houndsmans Association.
His hobbies included hunting, horse racing and training horses. Mr. Martin was known for his expertise in training horses and in the horse racing commission.
Mr. Martin passed from this life on January 6, 2008 at the Cushing Regional Hospital at the age of 70 years.
Mr. Martin is survived by one son, Jeff Martin and wife Melissa of Stillwater, Oklahoma, one daughter, Joyce K. Hufford and husband Mike of Perkins, Oklahoma, two brothers, Jerry Martin of Anthony, Kansas and Bob Martin of Morrison, Oklahoma, five sisters, Marsha Marlin and husband Donald of Ripley, Oklahoma, Brenda Martin of Stillwater, Betty Maples of California, Virginia Ridge of Butler, Missouri and Sue Healey and husband Jack of Butler, Missouri, two grandchildren, Megan and Mandy Powers and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and special friend, Elaine.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one spouse, Judy Paulette Martin, one daughter, Janelle Rae Martin and one sister, Erva Bergman.
