Sarah J. McFarlin Linder-Carmichael, a longtime Cushing resident, passed away on Thursday, January 8, 2009 at her daughter’s home near Cushing at the age of 82 years.The daughter of the late Arthur McFarlin and Nellie Berger McFarlin, Sarah was born on July 2, 1926 in Lincoln County.She had attended the Fairview schools in Lincoln County and was baptized into the Church of the Firstborn in October of 1940.Sarah moved to California where she was united in marriage to Covadell Linder on October 18, 1944 in Stockton, California. Covadell preceded her in death on April 12, 1988.She was then united in marriage to Port Carmichael on June 25, 1989 and he preceded Sarah in death on October 1, 1998.Survivors include five children, Robert Linder of Agra; Gary Linder and his wife Karen of Tulsa; Donald Ray Linder and his wife Debra of Tulsa; Jerry Wayne Linder and his wife Belinda of Cushing; and Carolyn Wright of Cushing; three brothers, Lee Ray McFarlin of Cleveland, Oklahoma; L. E. “Bud” McFarlin and his wife Lois of Tryon, Oklahoma; and Arthur McFarlin and his wife Marilyn of Stillwater; four sisters, Nina Hood Rodgers of Cushing; Ollie Quinn of Eugene, Oregon; Faye Pruitt of Cushing; and Mary Rains and her husband Leo of Ripley, Oklahoma; one sister-in-law, Velma McFarlin of Tryon; twenty three grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; forty five great-grandchildren; twelve step-great-grandchildren; six step-children and their families; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.In addition to her parents and both husbands, Sarah was preceded in death by three grandchildren, Angel Ann Wright, Gary Dean Linder and Donald Ray Linder, Jr.; two great-grandchildren, Agaytha Wright and Forrest Linder; three brothers, James McFarlin, Henry McFarlin and Clarence McFarlin; and two sisters, Ervie Murch and Thelma Wittman.Funeral services have been entrusted to the Palmer Marler Funeral Home in Cushing and will be held at 11:00 a.m., Sunday, January 11, 2009 in the Church of the Firstborn in Cushing with burial to follow in the Parkland Cemetery.
