1916 - 2009
Mayme Francona Hagar Lee was born June 24, 1916 in Reyno, Arkansas, the daughter of Henry and Rachel Parker Hagar. She was one of five children.In 1928, after the death of her mother, her family moved to Carney, Oklahoma. She later moved to Wellston and was united in marriage to Ohly Herman Lee of Wellston on September 30, 1939. They had a son and a daughter.Mayme and her children moved to Stillwater, Oklahoma in 1959, after the death of her husband. She attended cosmetology school and opened a beauty shop in her home. Her patrons became her dear friends as she continued this profession for 31 years, retiring at age 72.Mayme enjoyed spending time in her vegetable and flower garden.She found great joy in her family and friends, and brought laughter to everyone around her. Her grandchildren, Brandon and Amy, were the light of her life and she loved spending time with them. They knew her as Meme.Mayme will be remembered as a wonderful mother, selfless and full of unconditional love. Surrounded by her family in Stillwater, Mayme Francona Lee went home peacefully to be with the Lord on December 23, 2009.She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Herman Lee; son, Darrell Lee two sisters and one brother.Mayme is survived by her daughter, Phyllis Short and her husband, Don of Stillwater; grandchildren, Brandon Short of Stillwater and Amy Cheatham of Tulsa; great grandchildren, Brooke Short and Laiken and Gage Cheatham and one sister, Ethel Reddout of Stillwater.Funeral services for Mayme are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 29, 2009 at the Palmer Marler Funeral Home Chapel in Stillwater.Services are under the direction of Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Stillwater.Condolences may be sent using our online guestbook at www.pmcfh.com.
