CLIFFORD LOYAL KIRKPATRICK
1926 - 2016

Jackson Hole, Wyoming and part-time Parkland, Oklahoma resident, Clifford Loyal Kirkpatrick passed away in his home in Jackson on September 25, 2016 at the age of 90, surrounded by loved ones after a short, but difficult battle with cancer.
Clifford was born to Lawrence and Pearl Kirkpatrick, south of the town of Perkins, Oklahoma on August 15, 1926. He was the fourth of their six children.
Clifford was no stranger to hard work, he was raised working on the family farms, first at Perkins, then northwest of Chandler near Oak Grove School. After graduating from Chandler High School 1944, he worked for the Soil Conservation Service while still helping on the farm. This work ethic served him well when he was drafted into the US Army in 1950 during the Korean War where he served in Germany in field artillery, targeting howitzer firing via radio.
After being discharged in 1952, Clifford moved to Oklahoma City and soon began working for General Motors Parts Division shipping parts to GM dealers, a job he held and loved until retirement.
Not long after returning from military service, Clifford met the love of his life, Alois Iris Herrmann one Saturday evening while back home in Chandler. They were wed in Oklahoma City on July 25, 1953 in Oklahoma City. Their only child, Clifford Evan Kirkpatrick was born April 14, 1956 in the new home they had build in northeast Oklahoma City.
Clifford was transferred to the Dallas GM Parts Warehouse in 1974. They soon build a house in Irving Texas and Alois joined him in 1975. They lived in their Irving home until 1991, when they moved to their final home at Jackson, Wyoming. All the while, they frequently returned to the farm near Parkland, staying in the “Barn”, where they had living quarters. Always working on something around the farm. The love of farming always in his blood. He always had a garden until this summer as his health began to fail.
After retirement from GM, Clifford worked as a handy-man around Jackson, and worked at the Jackson Hole News mailroom Tuesday nights.
Clifford was respected by all and was always an important part of the community. He was a greatly loved member of The General Assembly and Church of the Firstborn, into which he was baptized on June 13th, 1953. His love was know across the nation, he visited and had guests from coast to coast. Even after Alois passed away, Clifford stilled opened his home and his heart to his friends, neighbors and brethren of the church, and you always knew he had a roast, carrots, and potatoes, and a seat ready for Sunday dinner, whether in Jackson or at the barn in Parkland.
Clifford Kirkpatrick is survived by his sister, Dorothy & husband Bill Taylor, sister-in-law June Kirkpatrick, brother-in-law Dwayne and wife Darlene Herrmann, sister-in-law Janice (Herrmann) and husband Bud Greenfield, sister-in-law Virginia (Herrmann) and husband Mel Corter, son Cliff E. and wife Loretta Kirkpatrick, grandson Kenneth Kirkpatrick, grandson Craig Kirkpatrick, grandson Jonathan (Jono) and wife Heather Kirkpatrick, granddaughter, Keri & husband Dustyn Burwell, grandson David and wife Emily Kirkpatrick, great granddaughter Jada Kirkpatrick, great grandson Noah Kirkpatrick, great granddaughter Abby Burwell, and great granddaughter Zoe Burwell, and a host of loving nieces, nephews, brethren and friends.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Alois Kirkpatrick, granddaughter, Vanessa Dawn Kirkpatrick, parents, Lawrence & Pearl Kirkpatrick, brother, George Kirkpatrick, brother Charles Kirkpatrick, sister, Coralie Sherman and sister, Ella Jones.
Clifford’s funeral service will be held at Parkland, Oklahoma Church of the Firstborn on October 1st, at 11:00 a.m. Viewing will be on Friday, September 30, 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Palmer Marler Funeral Home in Cushing. He will be buried next to his wife, Alois, at Parkland Cemetery.
