1917 - 1997
Lifelong Lincoln County resident Elmer Lee James died Sunday in Oklahoma City at the age of 80.He was born October 19, 1917, in Davenport, the son of Jesse and Mary Lou Bishop James.He married Marie Wallis on January 3, 1942, near Davenport.He was a retired farmer.Survivors include his wife, Marie James, of the home; sons and daughters-in-law, Don and Marlene James, Shawnee; Larry Luther James, Cassville Missouri; Jesse and Kaye James, Cushing; daughters and sons-in-law, Patsy and Donnie Quinn, Sparks; Carol and Mark E. Melson, Chandler; sisters, Beulah Bottoms and Selma Watson, both of Madera, California; Jewel Rushing, Orange, California; and Betty Fowler, California; fourteen grandchildren, two step grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren and three step great-grandchildren.Preceding him in death were his parents and four brothers, Ivan James, Frank James, Ernest James and Bill James.Graveside service will be 2:00 p.m. today at Prague Cemetery with Ray Condict officiating.Arrangements are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Prague.Published December 2, 1997.
