BARBARA SUE HOWERTON
1934 - 2016
Barbara Sue Bailey Howerton, a long-time Tulsa resident, departed this life August 7, 2016 in Houston, Texas at the age of 81.She was born September 29, 1934 in Davenport, Oklahoma to her parents, Blueford and Erda Bailey.Barbara graduated High School from Chandler, Oklahoma in 1953, and married Galen Howerton that same year. As a result of that marriage, they had two sons, Guy Bailey Howerton and Bruce David Howerton.Later in life Barbara moved to Tulsa and worked at Liberty Glass as a secretary for many years.She later married Maurice Davis and continued to reside in Tulsa, Oklahoma.She was a very active member of Parkview Baptist Church and regularly sang in the choir, played the piano, and participated in various performances. She spent a lot of time with friends and family at The Oaks Country Club, and was an avid tennis player.Barbara had recently moved to Cypress, Texas to be near her son, Guy.Preceding her in death are her parents, Blueford and Erda Bailey; her son, Bruce Howerton; her husbands, Galen Howerton and Maurice Davis; and her sister, Jeanne Bailey.Survivors include her son, Guy Bailey Howerton, and his wife Lynn of Cypress, Texas; grandchildren: Krysten Howerton and her fiancé Matt Sprenger of Denver, Colorado, Jason Howerton and his wife Brittany of Dallas, Texas, and Matt Howerton of Cypress, Texas; sister Pat Syrles of Muskogee, Oklahoma; special friend John R. Nelson of Huntsville, Texas; and many other relatives and friends, including a group of girls from her childhood.Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 13, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at the Davenport Cemetery Chapel.Parks Brothers Funeral Home of Chandler, Oklahoma has been entrusted with arrangements.
