NINA CHRISTINE HOOD RODGERS
1931 - 2011
CUSHING --- Nina Christine McFarlin Hood Rodgers, age 79, of Cushing, Oklahoma was called home to be with her Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, on September 30, 2011 at her home in Cushing, Oklahoma.Nina was born on December 15, 1931, to Arthur Monroe and Nellie Burger McFarlin in Agra, where she was raised and educated.She was baptized into the General Assembly and Church of the First Born by Brother Claude Greenfield on July 1, 1947 in Tulare, California.She married Roy C. "R. C." Hood on May 25, 1950 in Cushing, Oklahoma and lived in and around Cushing before settling south of Ripley, where R. C. worked on a dairy and for Cushing Plumbing. Later, together they owned and operated Hood's Upholstery until his death on July 15, 1991.She later moved to Cushing in 1993 where she presided until she married Harold Rodgers and moved to Enid for a short time, but then returned to her home where she has resided since. She has enjoyed crocheting for many years and her gifts are still proudly displayed in many of our homes, she loved working word puzzles, playing dominoes, and working in her flower gardens. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.She was predeceased by her parents, Arthur and Nellie McFarlin; her husband, R. C. Hood; one son, Ronald C. Hood; three grandchildren, John and Sandra Hood; and Justin Focht; four brothers, James McFarlin, Henry McFarlin, Clarence McFarlin and Arthur “Art” McFarlin; and three sisters, Thelma “Sis” Wittman, Ervie Murch and Sarah Linder Carmichael.Survivors include four daughters and their husbands, Charlene and Larry Focht of Cushing, Oklahoma; Linda Wood and Jay Wood of Ripley, Oklahoma; Brenda and David Robinson of Enid, Oklahoma; and Rose and Allen Busch of Mountain View, Arkansas; fifteen grandchildren and twenty one great - grandchildren.She is also survived by three sisters, Mary Rains and husband Leo of Ripley, Oklahoma; Faye Pruitt of Agra, Oklahoma; and Ollie Rossiter Quinn of Dexter, Oregon; and two brothers, Lee RayMcFarlin, of Cleveland, Oklahoma; and Loyal “Bud” McFarlin of Tryon, Oklahoma; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.She has often opened her home to visiting friends and relatives and always managed to put a meal on the table for them. She will be greatly missed by all.Nina will be carried to her final resting place by the hands of her grandsons.Funeral services have been entrusted to the care of the Palmer Marler Funeral Home in Cushing, Oklahoma and will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the Chapel of Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Stillwater, Oklahoma.Interment will follow at Parkland Cemetery, Parkland, Oklahoma with Pastor David Robinson officiating.
