REVEREND OLAF HOGGARD
1919 - 2008


Reverend Olaf Hoggard, retired Methodist Minister, passed away Wednesday, October 15, 2008 in the Cushing Regional Hospital at the age of 88 years.
The son of the late Calvin Peter Hoggard and Eva Lillian Smith Hoggard, Olaf was born on November 15, 1919 in Kingston, Oklahoma and was raised and educated in Kingston.
Olaf had pastored for over 39 years in Methodist churches in Oklahoma, and was very instrumental in starting various camps for the Indian youth of Oklahoma. He believed in spreading goodwill, always full of love, enjoying life to its fullest. Olaf loved the Lord and loved his great-granddaughter.
He was united in marriage to Elma Estelle Love in the early 1940’s and to this union three children, Robert, Kirby and Harry were born. He was united in marriage to Fran Wood in January 1995.
Survivors include his wife Fran; one son, Harry Calvin Hoggard and his wife Joana Jean of Cushing; one granddaughter, Skye Hoggard of Cushing; one great-granddaughter Matya Whitaker of Cushing; one sister, Eilene Pye of Albuquerque, New Mexico; and other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents and first wife, Olaf was preceded in death by two sons, Robert Bruce Hoggard and Kirby Smith Hoggard; two brothers, Harold Calvin Hoggard and Lara Guldmar Hoggard; and two sisters, Josephine Harper and Jac Richman.
Services will be held on Friday, October 17, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. in the Memorial Chapel of the Davis Funeral Home with Reverend Ted Uhlig officiating.
Burial will follow in the Avery Cemetery.
