DONA MYRTLE HERRING
1905 - 2007
Myrtle Moore Herring, age 101, a longtime Cushing resident passed away on Sunday, June 10, 2007 at the Linwood Village in Cushing.Myrtle was born on September 27, 1905 in Boswell, Indian Territory to Newborn and Ida Caldona Drake Moore.She was a longtime member of the Church of the Firstborn.She married Everet Leroy Herring on July 4, 1924.Myrtle was a homemaker and she enjoyed cooking, visiting and quilting. Known in the area for her quilt making, lots of relatives and friends brought their extra fabric and scraps to Myrtle. She made over 100 quilts. One of her quilts was raffled off at a Cushing High School class reunion.She also enjoyed watching television game shows and she always loved to fish. Myrtle also liked to have a garden and can.She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.Myrtle is survived by her sons Junior Herring and wife Patty of Cushing; George Herring of Cushing; daughters Jewel Greenfield of Chandler; Artie Curry and husband Clair of Miller, Missouri; Glenda Pipps of Sand Springs; grandchildren Pam Edmoundson and husband Vernon; Joyce McIntire and husband Phil; Chris Greenfield and wife Yuvonda; Lynn Herring and wife Debbie; Henry Herring and wife Shannon; Treva Brown and husband Terry; Cheryl Little; Tracy Nicholson; Kevin Burns and wife Jill; Brent Burns; sixteen great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Everet Leroy Herring; her son Joe Herring; daughter in law, Allegra “Allie” Herring; son in law Virgil Greenfield; brothers Corbin Moore and George Harbin; and sisters Birdie Brooks Greenfield, Alba Evans McCoy, Susie Moore and Fannie Rice.Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 12, 2007 at the Church of the Firstborn in Agra. Brother Donnie Malloy will officiate.Interment will follow at the Parkland Cemetery, Parkland, Oklahoma.Services are entrusted to Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Cushing, Oklahoma.
