1927 - 2003
Longtime Cushing resident Amy E. Williams Hayes, 75, died Thursday, January 30, 2003, at Cushing Regional Hospital.She was born in Myrtle, Missouri, on March 23, 1927, to Charlie and Della Wilson Williams. She was reared and educated in the Missouri area.Her family came to Oklahoma in the early 1930s and moved to Cushing from Perkins in 1949.She married Ray L. Hayes on May 17, 1946, in Cushing and the couple lived in Cushing since. He died November 22, 1989.She worked as a nurse's aid at the Cushing Hospital for more than fifteen years before she retired. She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church and was a very talented seamstress. She enjoyed painting, cooking and canning for her family and friends.In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by one grandson, Tyler Hayes Flint, and a sister, Marie Blevins.Survivors include two children, Ron Hayes and his wife, Earlene, of Norman; and Connie Cooper and her husband, Dave, of Colorado Springs, Colorado; three sisters, Nora McDonald and her husband, Don, of Clearwater, Florida; Dora Pulliam of Oklahoma City and Norma Endicott of Cushing; one brother, Cecil Williams of Stroud; three grandchildren, Trishayne Flint, Brayden Kahre and Abram Hayes Dunaway; three great-grandchildren, Shelby Rae Flint, Tarryn Alexa Kahre and Kale Hayes Kahre; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.Services, with Pastor Lonnie Lee presiding, will be Monday at 2:00 p.m. in the First Baptist Church. Pianist Kristi Hickman will provide the prelude and postlude and will accompany soloist Ralph Hickman as he sings "Amazing Grace" and "It Is Well With My Soul."Interment will follow in the Carney Cemetery.Davis Funeral Home is directing the arrangements.
