NILA ELMINA HASKIN
1915 - 2014


Nila Elmina Ladd Haskin, longtime Cushing area resident, passed away Saturday, April 26, 2014, at the age of 98 years.
The daughter of the late Elno Boyd Ladd and Mary Anderson Ladd, Nila was born on October 19, 1915 in Avery, Oklahoma and was raised and educated in the Happy Valley, Avery and Cushing area, graduating from Cushing High School.
She was united in marriage to Loyd Leroy Haskin on October 9, 1940 in Cushing and to this union three children, Carol, Shirley and Dale were born. Loyd preceded her in death on December 28, 1996.
Nila was a member of the 9th and Linwood Church of Christ, in Cushing. She was a homemaker that enjoyed sewing, working in her garden and preserving the fruits and vegetables they raised. She had been a caregiver for her brother and sister-in-law for many years. She was a member of the Happy Valley Home Demonstration Club, and the Friendly 20 Club and will be missed by everyone who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her children, Carol Watkins and her husband Ray; Shirley Elmore and her husband Rex; and Dale Haskin; her grandchildren, Donnie Watkins and his wife Sue; Susan Champion and her husband Frank; Kevin Elmore and his wife Beth; Keith Elmore and his wife Kelcey; Cindy Elmore; and Cryste Elmore Berry and her husband Keith; twelve great-grandchildren; one step-sister Dorothy Franks; several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one grand-daughter-in-law LeAnn Watkins; two sisters, Lela Beall and Ruby Gooch; four brothers, Everett, Roy, Forrest and Floyd Ladd; four step-sisters, Velma Hood, Lola Beard, Opal Revis Sollars and Vera Christy Baker and three step-brothers, Leonard, Floyd and Elmer Hood.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. in the Cushing Church of Christ, {9th and Linwood} with Brother Bob Fitzgerald and Brother Ken Murrell in charge.
Burial will follow in the Avery Cemetery.
The family will greet friends on Tuesday evening, April 29, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the Floyd Family Center, east of the Funeral Home.
