ROY DAVID HARDESTY
1891 - 1970
The funeral service for Roy David Hardesty, 79, was at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 4, 1970, in the First United Methodist Church at Agra, Oklahoma, with Reverend Rex Bowen, former pastor at Agra, officiating.Mr. and Mrs. Earl Brown and Mrs. Andrew Drake sang "In The Garden", "Beyond the Sunset" and "What A Friend." Mrs. Harold Dunham played the accompaniment.Casketbearers were John Kalka, Andrew Drake, Harold Dunham, Murrell Watkins, Albert Ball and William Ball.Interment, under direction of the Curry Funeral Home of Chandler, was in the Osage Cemetery at Agra.Mr. Hardesty, a Lincoln County rural mail carrier for over 43 years, died Sunday in St. Francis Hospital, Tulsa.Roy David Hardesty was born June 24, 1891, near Guthrie, Oklahoma, the son of Ollie E. and May Hyde Hardesty.As a youth, he moved to Fallis, Oklahoma, where he began his long rural mail carrier service in the Fallis-Chandler-Agra area. His first route was served by horse and buggy. He retired in 1958, after servicing the Agra route since 1918.On August 30, 1920, Mr. Hardesty married Flossie L. Haradon at Stillwater. She preceded him in death in 1967.He was a member of the Agra United Methodist Church.Survivors include one son, Dale Hardesty of Belle Mead, New Jersey; one daughter, Mrs. Harold {Betty} Pool of Shidler; four grandchildren, Mike Pool of Alva; Mrs. Gary {Becky} Sharp of Stillwater; David and Loura Dale Hardesty of Belle Mead, New Jersey; one sister, Mrs. Earl {Hallie} King of Fairview; two nephews, Ted King of Goodwell and Kenneth King of Yukon; several cousins and many friends.

We are grateful for all the many kindnesses shown - - the prayers, the visits, the flowers, the food, the service, our cards; but most of all, a special thanks for all the many, many cards and notes he received in the hospital, to which he looked forward each day.
