ELIZABETH MARGARET HANSEN
1913 - 2016
Elizabeth Margaret Lowe Hansen of Carney was born November 3, 1913 in Agra and passed away February 6, 2016 in Pahrump, Nevada at her daughter’s home. She was 102 years old.
Elizabeth was born in Agra where she attended school and later attended Oklahoma A & M College which is now Oklahoma State University.
She taught school for a few years before marrying Robert "Bob" Hansen on May 12, 1937.
After years of teaching she left to raise a family.
She was a substitute teacher for the Tryon and Carney schools. She remained active in her community until December 2014 when failing health forced her retirement. Over 400 friends and family attended her 100th birthday party traveling from several states.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents; husband of over 50 years, Robert Hansen; daughter, Patricia Starling; brother, George Lowe and sister, Martha Armstrong.
Survivors include her daughter, Margaret and her husband Ray Cypret of Pahrump, Nevada; son-in-law, Lorn Starling and his wife Dolores of Carney; four grandchildren, Terri Miller of Bristow, Bob Starling of Laverne, Jacque Perlstein of Las Vegas and Julie Hewitt of Las Vegas;nine great-grandchildren, Brian Miller, Jennifer Martin, Steven Starling, Hillary Jantz, Dan Perlstein, Jordan Perlstein, Brittany Fichter, Paige Hewitt and Alyssa Hewitt; five) great-great-grandchildren, Madison Martin, Lyric Martin, Ella Fichter, Kade Jantz and Kamri Jantz; siblings, Harold Lowe, Richard Lowe, Ruth Eckers, Ethel Jean Bradley, Helen Louise Davis and Kathryn Flood; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was the very heart and soul of our family.
Memorial donations can be made to the Nathan Adelson Hospice Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.
A funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 13, 2016 at the First Baptist Church of Carney with interment following in the Carney Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Lehman Funeral Home of Wellston.
