ERNIE E. HAMILTON
1934 - 2012

Ernie E. Hamilton, a longtime Tryon resident and Cushing business owner, passed away on Monday, October 29, 2012 in his home at the age of 78 years.
The son of the late Frank Hamilton and Ethel Eunice Hargett Hamilton, Ernie was born on September 18, 1934 in Diamond, Missouri.
He was reared and educated in Missouri before moving to Illinois where he worked for a corn products plant.
It was in 1959 that he met Doris Boston and the two were united in marriage on July 10, 1959 in Peoria, Illinois. They moved to Oklahoma in 1966 where Ernie worked for Cecil Myers TV in Chandler. Ernie settled in Tryon in 1968 where he did service calls out of his home before opening his own business, Ernie Hamilton TV in Cushing, in 1971. He retired in 2001.
Ernie was a longtime member of the Christian Union Church in Tryon.
He loved working in his vegetable garden, working on his own cars and spending time on the farm. But his greatest times in life were spent with his grandchildren and rooting for the Sooners and his beloved St. Louis Cardinals.
Survivors include his wife, Doris of the home; three children, Deborah Dean and her husband Jimmy Jr. of Guthrie; Rick Hamilton and his wife Michelle of Newcastle; and Julie Hamilton of Lawton; one sister, Lucille Hartler of Mt. Vernon, Missouri; six grandchildren, Jason Barber and his wife Jessica; Candace Johnson and her husband Jason; Tyler Hamilton, Matthew Hamilton, Nicholas Hamilton, and Sara Hamilton; one great-grandson, Zaiden Barber; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, Ernie was preceded in death by eleven brothers and sisters.
Funeral services have been entrusted to the care of the Palmer Marler Funeral Home in Cushing and will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, November 3, 2012 in the Christian Union Church, Tryon, Oklahoma with Pastor Ted Gibson officiating.
Burial will follow in the Tryon Cemetery, Tryon, Oklahoma.
The Hamilton family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Christian Union Church's general fund, P.O. Box 201, Tryon, Oklahoma 74875, in Ernie's name.
