He was born on September 28, 1922 in Soonerville, Oklahoma to Frank Lee and Martha Davis Goff.
When still a young man, Corky answered the call to serve his country during World War II and joined the army, departing the U.S. through San Francisco, and serving as a Sergeant in the 164th Infantry Regiment of the American Division U.S. Army, Southwest Pacific Arena. American Division, of the United States Army was the only division formed outside of United States Territory during World War II. Sgt. During his service in the military he was awarded both the Bronze Star, which is awarded for acts of heroism, merit, or meritorious service in a combat zone, and the Purple Heart, awarded in the name of the President to those wounded {or killed} while serving, on or after April 5, 1917, with the U.S. Military.
Upon returning home through Seattle, Washington, Corky returned to the Cushing area and worked for Department of Agriculture as, first, an inspector and then as supervisor; as superintendent of the Cushing Packing Company; part owner of a local car dealership; purse winning quarter horse owner at one time and retired as the purchasing officer for Payne County, District I.
Corky was known to some as the “Tract Man”, as he would go to the nursing homes in Cushing to share bubble gum and the word of God.
He was preceded in death by five sisters, his mother and father; wife of one year Opal and Helen, wife of 60 years.
He leaves many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends, and his caretaker for some years, Virginia Weatherington.
