WINFRED LEE FOWLER
1935 - 2016


Winfred Lee Fowler, 81, departed this life at his home on Tuesday, October 11, 2016, in Meeker, Oklahoma.
Winfred’s parents, Roy and Hazel Broyles Fowler, welcomed him into this world on July 27, 1935, in Meeker.
He was a lifetime resident of Meeker. Winfred attended school at Rich Hill and was a 1952 graduate of Meeker High School.
He married Margie Newnam on May 23, 1953.
Winfred was always a farmer but was employed at several places including Jonco, Thiokol, TG&Y and Macklinburg and Duncan, and retired as a rural letter carrier in the Meeker community. He worked hard and supported his family cutting and selling wood and hauling hay.
Winfred loved Bible history and his favorite TV program was a Bible study "Through the Bible with Les Feldick". He was a member of the First Christian Church in Meeker where he served as a deacon.
Winfred loved to fish and hunt with his friend, Jack Smith. He served his community as a school board member for 10 years and was an avid supporter of FFA, receiving Honorary Chapter Farmer in 1978. Winfred was also very involved with little league baseball. He was fortunate to get to enjoy his children’s and his grandchildren’s activities.
His parents and sister, Pansy Brown and great grandson, Lane Matthew McAnally preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Margie Fowler; son and daughter-in-law, Virgil and Rebecca Fowler of Meeker; daughters and sons-in-law, Ruth and Paul Simpson of Meeker and Karen and Gary Manning of Newalla; grandchildren, Kasey Manning, Kelsey and Beau Burton, Matthew and Lindsay Simpson, Marcie Simpson, Mark and Kelli Simpson, Kristina and Matt McAnally andBrian Fowler; great grandchildren, Lydia and Meredith Burton, Charlie and Lola Burland, Alexander Simpson, Brady and Hazel Wahpepah, Cole and Haley Simpson and Isaac McAnally and many other family and friends.
The Fowler family will receive friends on Thursday, October 13, 2016 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Parks Brothers Funeral Chapel in Prague.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 15, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at First Christian Church in Meeker with Jim Whorton officiating.
Interment will follow at New Hope Cemetery in Meeker.
